Memory Verse Journal Plan- Jan. 2
Memory Verse Journal
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper” (Psalm 1:1-3).
If there is any one thing we can do to strengthen the churches (other than maintaining a regenerate church membership) it is to seriously strengthen the biblical depth of the congregation. “For every one that useth milk is

Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

Friday Church News Notes
- Dec. 27
EINSTEIN’S GOAL (Friday Church News Notes, December 27, 2024, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - “Albert Einstein once said, ‘I want to know God’s thoughts in a mathematical way.’ Einstein wanted an equation, perhaps no more than one inch long, that would encapsulate all physical laws, the beauty, the majesty, the power of the universe into a single equation. That was his life’s goal” (“Einstein,” History Channel). Einstein, a Jew by heritage, was a brilliant man who had a gift of understanding “natural” laws, and he knew that those laws required a Designer, but according to his own testimony he never knew that Designer because he rejected the Designer’s Revelation. The Bible doesn’t encapsulate the mysteries of the universe in a mathematical.. see full report
Hymns - Adalbert P. Cecil- Dec. 26
Lord Adalbert Percival Cecil (1841-1889)
The following is from The Little Flock Hymnbook: Its History and Writers by Adrian Roach. This Brethren hymnbook was first edited by G.V. Wigram in 1856 and revised by John Darby in 1881.
“Lord Cecil was born the son of the second Marquis of Exeter on July 18, 1841. While little is available as to his early boyhood, he came as a young man in contact with William Has-lam, an earnest preacher of the gospel in the Church of England. After he was saved he grew much in his soul and became active in proclaiming the gospel. He also ministered helpfully to the Lord’s people. Because of his position he was free to use his time and effort for the Lord’s work (1 Cor. 7:21).
“He was more interested in the heavenly family than in human distinctions. He mingled with rich and poor alike and through grace was at home with each. The testimony of one who knew him was: ‘Lord Adalbert Cecil was one of the most godly men we have ever ..

Christmas and Charles Wesley - Dec. 23
I want to take this occasion to bid each of our subscribers a blessed holiday season and a fruitful New Year in God’s will.
It seems that each year about this time some people write to ask about my views on Christmas. The subject of Christmas seems to stir up as many strong passions as Donald Trump and Covid vaccines!
 Consider three examples:
“Take me off your list.... I am an ex-Catholic and my wife is also -- from the Philippines! Doubtless you are too stupid to know that worshiping God with Pagan, Dates, Symbols and Rituals does NOT please Him! We stopped 42 years ago - as soon as someone showed us, as Baptists, that it was wrong! How can you miss the encyclopedias, dictionaries, Internet and even God's word - Ex. 32-33, 1 Co. 10:1-5, Jer. 10:1-5 unless you are either not saved or wilfully disobedient! No need to answer unless you want to acknowledge just how stupid you really are!” ..

EVANGELIST SAYS 95% OF EVANGELICAL CHURCHES ARE LIKE COUNTRY CLUBS (Friday Church News Notes, December 20, 2024, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - In a recent interview, evangelist and motivational speaker Nick Vujicic says the vast majority of evangelical churches are “more like a country club.” “In 95% of the churches we have GenZ today swearing, sleeping around, and every knows it, but no one is really keeping anyone accountable. So I am seeing the fruit of no accountability and no meat being taught. ... I think we haven’t seen the [real] accounts [yet] of [the result of] addictions to technology, which really is scary. Seven and a half hours a day young people are on technology, and more than 65% of teenagers are doing self production of inappropriate.. see full report

James Ussher vs the Modern Critics - Dec. 19
The following is excerpted from Dr. Floyd Nolan Jones, The Chronology of the Old Testament, 1993:
Finally, [I am gratefully indebted to] James Ussher (1581-1656), learned Archbishop of Armagh--the highest position in the Irish Anglican Church--scholar and historian of the first rank. Entering Trinity College at 13, he prepared a detailed work on Hebrew chronology in Latin at 15 and received a master’s degree when 18. At 19 he engaged in controversy the Jesuit scholar Henry Fitzsimons. Overthrowing him, none could thereafter match him in debate. An expert in Semitic languages and history, at 20 he was ordained. At 26, he earned a doctorate and became Professor of Divinity at Dublin. So great was his repute of tolerance, sincerity and amassed learning (characterized by John Selden as ‘miraculous’) that, despite the fact he had.. see full report
Immersion in the Scriptures - Dec. 18
The following is excerpted from Biblical Holiness for the 21st Century, which is a book and also one of the Way of Life Bible College courses, www.wayoflife.org.
After salvation, nothing is more important for a life of holiness than becoming a serious, lifelong Bible student.
This major passage on the divine nature and power of Scripture (2 Ti. 3:16-17) is at the heart of the major passage warning of end-time apostasy (2 Timothy 3-4). Scripture is the victory in the midst of apostasy.
Scripture is the quick and powerful Word of God (Heb. 4:12); it is pure truth (Joh. 17:17); it is light in a dark world (2 Pe. 1:19-21); it is “able to build you up” (Ac. 20:32).
Consider just some of the Scriptures that teach the necessity of immersion in God’s Word for holiness and .. see full report

Errors in Popular Commentaries - Dec. 12
We use commentaries on a daily basis, have done so for a half century, and have benefited greatly from this practice. At the same time, we understand there are problems with most popular commentaries.
 Following are some of these:
There is the problem of the allegorical interpretation of prophecy.
Most of the most widely-used commentaries are written from an amillennial perspective. As a result, they interpret prophecy allegorically and therefore falsely. This is true of Matthew Henry, Jamieson-Fausset-Brown, John Wesley, John Calvin, Adam Clarke, Albert Barnes, Matthew Poole, and a great many others. Consider some examples of the allegorical interpretation of Revelation 20:1-10.
“A prophecy of the binding of Satan for ..

Every person on this planet, no matter where they live, is 99.6% genetically identical! Also, mitochondrial DNA with its accumulated mutations can be traced backward through the female lineage to a common female ancestor for all females today. If you assume a standard mutation rate and that humans are only related to humans, this “Mitochondrial Eve” lived approximately 6,000 years ago! (N.T. SUPREME COURT SIDES WITH FIRST AMENDMENT IN LANDMARK COLORADO CASE (Friday Church News Notes, December 6, 2024, www.wayoflife.org, fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - America’s Bill of Rights is the most robust protection of individual civil rights in the history of Gentile nations. It is the product of an experiment that began in England with the Magna Carta of the 13th century and concluded with the founding of the United States of America in the 18th. Though America’s Bill of Rights is under vicious assault and has been weakened over the past century and more by Congress and the Courts, it still offers protections far greater than those enjoyed by citizens of other nations. While America is ridiculously marked as a systemically.. see full report
An Evangelistic Church
The following is excerpted from the new book and Bible course An Evangelistic Church for the 21st Century:
Aggressive evangelism is a fundamental of the faith.
Most of the large aggressive churches of bygone days are dead or dying. For example, Highland Park Baptist Church of Chattanooga, Tennessee, no longer exists. The home of Tennessee Temple Bible College, Highland Park had a great emphasis on world missions. They campaigned on that. They had huge, enthusiastic missionary conferences in which hundreds of God’s people surrendered their lives to that glorious work and went across North America and to the ends of the earth to preach the gospel and plant churches. Highland Park had a great emphasis on evangelism. They campaigned on that. It was..
