HELPFUL BOOK ON ISLAM
January 31, 2008 (David Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061, 866-295-4143, fbns@wayoflife.org; for instructions about subscribing and unsubscribing or changing addresses, see the information paragraph at the end of the article)-
Peril of Islam: Telling the Truth is by Gene Gurganus, who was a missionary to a Muslim nation for 17 years and has been in the ministry for 53 years. The book, which was published in 2004, is available from Truth Publishers, P.O. Box 1525, Taylors, SC 29687, http://www.truthpublisher.com/index.php?main_page=index.
Christians need to understand the Islamic religion and aspirations more today than ever before. This would be a good book to read privately as well as with the family, to use in home schooling, and even to use as a Sunday School course.
Gurganus exposes the error of those who claim that Islam is a religion of peace. He explains that the goal of Islam, from the days of Mohammed, has been to “impose the Islamic faith and rule (sharia) in all the world.”
According to Islam, the world is divided into the world of Dar al-Harb (the world of war, non-Islamic people) and the Dar al-Islam (the world of peace, the Muslim world). Therefore, peace, by Islamic definition, is Islamic control over any part of the world, and full peace would not be achieved until Islam rules the whole world. “The presumption is that the duty of jihad will continue, interrupted only by truces, until all the world either adopts the Muslim faith or subjects to the Muslim rule” (pp. 59, 60).

HE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT
January 30, 2008 (David Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061, 866-295-4143, fbns@wayoflife.org; for instructions about subscribing and unsubscribing or changing addresses, see the information paragraph at the end of the article) -
The following is by Pastor Buddy Smith, Malanda, Queensland --
The world knew him not.
That’s what the Holy Spirit said in John 1:10, “He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.”
The world knew Him not.
That is an amazing fact. At face value, this Scripture teaches that creation did not recognise its Creator.
Have you ever pondered how complete was the humility of Christ in His incarnation? The Holy Spirit has described the humiliation of our Lord Jesus with these words, “...being in the form of God (He) thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” Phil. 2:6-8
We know from this text that He came incognito into our world, unrecognised by His own creatures. This Scripture text raises several questions, “How well cloaked was the glory of the Son of God? How completely did He hide the transcendence of His nature from His creatures? How perfectly did He conceal His glorious attributes when the Infinite God became an Infant Man?” Our text declares that He was totally successful. He cloaked His glory in human form.

A PREACHER’S SON COMES TO CHRIST

I highly recommend Training Your Children to Turn out Right by David Sorenson. This powerful and important book can be ordered from Northstar Ministries, 1820 W. Morgan St., Duluth, MN 55811, 218-726-0209, www.northstarministries.com, dhs.northstar@charter.net.
Following is the section of the book that gives Pastor Sorenson’s own testimony of salvation.
________________________
I believe one problem in many Christian homes is that the children have made professions of faith, but have never actually been born again. ... A child who has a divinely created new nature within his or her heart will be spiritually sympathetic to being trained in righteousness. ... Therefore, it is of utmost importance that we carefully instruct and couch our children about salvation. ...
I have known of many young people who] professed to be saved in their childhood; but in reality, they were never born again. They went through the motions and walked an aisle. They learned the language, but they were never regenerated. ...
As a boy of five, I had gone (or been taken) forward in an evangelistic meeting. I do not know who the preacher was. I do not remember what the sermon was about. In fact, as I recall, I slept through much of the service. I have absolutely no recollection of who prayed with me or how I was dealt with in the prayer room. ... After that meeting, I was coached to tell others that I had gotten saved. Therefore, over the next fifteen years, if someone asked me if I was saved, I would reply, ‘Oh yes. I was saved when I was five years old.’ Now, I believe that five-year-old children can be saved, but I do not believe that I was saved then. If it had not been for faithful parents who continued to pray for me over those years, I may not have been genuinely converted when I was in Bible college. I believe in my case and in many others, there was a lack of conviction about sin and its consequences in both heart and mind. It is a crucial prerequisite to the new birth. ...

The following is excerpted from the book CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN MUSIC: SOME QUESTIONS ANSWERED AND SOME WARNINGS GIVEN. This book begins with the author’s own experience of living the rock & roll lifestyle before he was saved and of how the Lord dealt with him about music in the early months of his Christian life. Isn’t some of the contemporary Christian music acceptable? Didn’t Luther and the Wesleys use tavern music? Isn’t the issue of music just a matter of taste? Doesn’t the Bible encourage us to use cymbals and stringed and loud sounding instruments? Since God looks on the heart, why are you concerned about appearance? The final sections contain TIPS FOR KEEPING CONTEMPORARY MUSIC OUT OF THE CHURCHES and SUGGESTED RESOURCES FOR SACRED MUSIC. 177 pages. $5.95. Rick Warren Recommended Book Calss Purpose Driven Opponents "Leaders From Hell”
RICK WARREN RECOMMENDED BOOK CALLS PURPOSE DRIVEN OPPONENTS “LEADERS FROM HELL”
January 14, 2008 (David Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061, 866-295-4143, fbns@wayoflife.org; for instructions about subscribing and unsubscribing or changing addresses, see the information paragraph at the end of the article)-
Transitioning: Leading Your Church through Change, a book by Dan Southerland that is highly recommended by Rick Warren, calls those who oppose the Purpose Driven philosophy that so many pastors are trying to push upon their people as “leaders from hell.”
Southerland is speaking of opposition in general, but it obvious from the overall context that he is referring to those who resist the new philosophies. He is called “the leading expert on implementing the Purpose Driven paradigm in existing churches” (Church Transitions web site).
Southerland says they have experienced two major sources of criticism as they have transitioned churches to the Purpose Driven model: Christians from traditional backgrounds and traditional pastors. He hastens to add that not all of the traditionals oppose them, “just the meaner ones” (p. 116). On page 115 he likens opponents to Sanballat who resisted the building of the walls of Jerusalem in the time of Nehemiah. Southerland says, “Sanballat is a leader from hell. We all have some Sanballats in our churches. This is the guy who opposes whatever you propose. ... You cannot call this guy a leader from hell to his face--but you could call him Sanballat” (p. 115).

HASN’T THE KJV BEEN UPDATED IN THOUSANDS OF PLACES?
January 10, 2008 (first published April 27, 2006) (David Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. The following is from “The Bible Version Question-Answer Database” by David Cloud and available from Way of Life Literature, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061, fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143.
A question that comes up frequently in the Bible Version debate is this: “If you believe that the KJV is the preserved Word of God in English, which edition do you use, seeing that it has been revised many times and in thousands of places?”
Speaking on the “History and Heritage of the English Bible” at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary on March 22-23, 2006, Charles Ryrie stated that there have been some 24,000 variations of the King James Version since its original publication in 1611, and “it’s just something you might have in the back of your mind to help somebody who thinks King James is the only thing that we should use” (“Christians Are Wasting Heritage of English Bible,” Baptist Press, April 4).
